Values to enter in your mail app

Use these values when your mail app asks for server settings.

IMAP incoming mail

Best for phones, tablets, laptops, and webmail because messages stay synced.

POP3 incoming mail

Use only if you intentionally want POP3 behavior instead of synced IMAP mail.

Required for sending mail from your mailbox.

Step-by-step guides

Update your mail app

If your app asks for both incoming and outgoing settings, enter the values above in both sections.

Apple Mail on Mac
  1. Open Mail.
  2. Choose Mail > Settings, then click Accounts.
  3. Select your PW Hosting email account.
  4. Open Server Settings.
  5. For incoming mail, enter mx.pwhosts.com, port 993, and SSL/TLS for IMAP.
  6. For outgoing mail, choose the SMTP account menu. If needed, choose Edit SMTP Server List, then enter mx.pwhosts.com with port 465 and SSL/TLS.
  7. Make sure username is your full email address and authentication uses your mailbox password.
  8. Save changes, then send yourself a test message.

iPhone or iPad Mail
  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to Apps > Mail > Mail Accounts, or Mail > Accounts on older iOS versions.
  3. Select your PW Hosting account. If you are adding it fresh, choose Add Account > Other > Add Mail Account.
  4. Choose IMAP.
  5. Enter mx.pwhosts.com for incoming host name and outgoing host name.
  6. Use your full email address as the username in both incoming and outgoing sections.
  7. Use port 993 with SSL for incoming IMAP and port 465 with SSL for outgoing SMTP.
  8. Tap Done, then test sending and receiving.

Outlook for Windows
  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Choose File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
  3. Select your PW Hosting mailbox and choose Change or Repair.
  4. Open the advanced or server settings area.
  5. Set incoming mail to mx.pwhosts.com, IMAP port 993, SSL/TLS.
  6. Set outgoing SMTP to mx.pwhosts.com, port 465 with SSL/TLS. If 465 is not available, use port 587 with STARTTLS.
  7. Enable outgoing server authentication and use the same username and password as incoming mail.
  8. Save, then use Outlook's account test or send a test message.

Mozilla Thunderbird
  1. Open Thunderbird.
  2. Go to Account Settings.
  3. Select Server Settings under your PW Hosting account.
  4. Set server name to mx.pwhosts.com, port 993, connection security SSL/TLS, and authentication method Normal password.
  5. Select Outgoing Server (SMTP).
  6. Edit the PW Hosting SMTP server and set server name to mx.pwhosts.com, port 465, connection security SSL/TLS, and authentication method Normal password.
  7. Use your full email address as the username.
  8. Save, then send a test message.

Gmail app for iPhone or Android
  1. Open the Gmail app.
  2. Tap your profile picture, then choose Add another account.
  3. Choose Other.
  4. Enter your full email address and choose manual setup if prompted.
  5. Choose Personal (IMAP).
  6. Enter your mailbox password.
  7. For incoming server, enter mx.pwhosts.com, port 993, SSL/TLS.
  8. For outgoing server, enter mx.pwhosts.com, port 465, SSL/TLS, and require sign-in.
  9. Finish setup and send a test message.

Thunderbird for Android
  1. Open Thunderbird and go to Settings.
  2. Select your PW Hosting account, or choose Add account.
  3. Choose manual setup and select IMAP.
  4. Use your full email address and mailbox password.
  5. Set incoming server to mx.pwhosts.com, port 993, security SSL/TLS.
  6. Set outgoing server to mx.pwhosts.com, port 465, security SSL/TLS.
  7. Turn on SMTP authentication or Require sign-in.
  8. Save, then test sending and receiving.

Menu labels vary by Android version. Use the same server values wherever the app asks for incoming IMAP and outgoing SMTP settings.
